Optional Items:

  • Stain for the wood (optional).
  • Paint brush if you decide to stain the surface of the corner desk.

Getting Started:

Make sure you’ve decided on the best location in your home to place the desk.  It may be best if you do this project in the room you’re going to utilize it in to ensure that the floor is level when you start assembly. Line the floor with a tarp or something that’s easy to clean so there’s no sawdust left on the floor.

  • Using your power saw cut one of the wooden sheets in half making two triangular pieces.
  • Set up the two square pieces of wood in an L-shape. Make sure that they line up properly by utilizing your level. If the floor isn’t level you can use your sandpaper to sand down the square edges.
  • Sand the lumber twice to give it a smooth finish. The first time you sand use rough sandpaper and on the second pass use fine sandpaper.
  • If you’re going to stain the corner desk use one coat of your desired shade.

Assembly:

  • Place the two wooden squares and the wooden strip in the shape of an L. Place this in the center of the “L.”
  • Glue the shape together and secure with nails on each edge. Wipe off any extra glue and take a breather while it dries!
  • Set the triangular piece of wood on top of your L-shaped desk, glue and then secure tightly with nails.
  • In order to hide the nail heads use your wood putty. Wipe off any excess and let dry.
  • If desired place another coat of stain over the visible portion of the wood and allow it to dry.
